With fall here, this is a very easy way to get herbs in your body and your families bodies that will help fend off colds and the flu. Thyme is an expectorant, which helps clear the lungs of mucas and other unwanted materials. Garlic is a must for this time of year. It helps boost the immune system to help fight viruses, like the flu. It is best taken raw with a little honey, but is still pretty strong, so garlic supplements will do. Last Saturday I attended the MN Holistic and Herbal Educational Festival in Cannon Falls, MN. It was excellent! From the sessions offered to the people attending to the teachers, all was great. The only thing I didn’t like was the fact that I wanted to attend more then one of the classes in each session! But I had to chose, and that was hard. I attended the two herbal walks in the morning, and the aromatherapy and tincture making in the afternoon. (more…)
Well, here it goes. I’m starting a blog after getting my feet wet in some herbal activity for the past few months. I have made some tinctures, lip balm, salve and am currently in the process of trying to make a lavender essential oil. I’ve also have a number of dried herbs on my cupboard. Now to reinforce what I’ve learned, I want to put it down in writing and share it with you, get your feedback and hear about what you are doing.
